Bin Laden again shows he has no understanding of civil liberties
"raw dogma" by Nkrumah Steward, creator of 8BM.com

Often I am accused to making things more complicated than they are.
Most often those who charge me with that are the same people who also swear up and down that everything they need to know about everything can be summed up in a 30 second sound byte.
But that is not to say that they aren’t right, sometimes.
Bin Laden illustrated again in his latest recorded threat to the world that he has no real grasp of the idea of civil liberties, freedom of choice and other like concepts.
Obviously Bin Laden comes from a place where 99.99% practice Islam, 99.99% look at the world from an Arab world view which leads to certain ideas, concepts and ways of living that go completely unexamined because they serve their homogenous society well.
You see, maybe in the “extremist worldview” things like freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of press, really aren’t as important as they are in a multicultural, multi-ethnic, multi-racial, multi-faith society.
You can’t have a multi-national, culture, racial, ethnic and faith society and not be tolerant of different perspectives on things.
There is no different perspective in Saudi Arabia.
Bin Laden said in the tape, "The insistence of the Danish government to refrain from apologizing and its refusal to punish the criminals and take action to prevent this crime from being repeated... shows that the notions of freedom of speech have no roots, especially when it comes to Muslims,".
”The notions of freedom of speech has no roots.” What is he talking about?
What exactly are the roots of freedom of speech?
The roots are the fact that you own and have the right to express your own thoughts, ideas and beliefs.
But that is precisely what he is so upset about, the fact that these Danish newspaper cartoonist can say and draw whatever they want.
They are not Muslim. Therefore they are not bound by Islamic law.
Bin Laden has never met someone that wasn’t Muslim. Therefore he concludes that the entire world is Muslim and therefore everyone is bound to Islamic law.
Now if these Danish cartoonists had been making fun of some pagan God, “no harm no foul” but when its his backyard that they shit in, well, then suddenly freedom of speech has no roots. How does that work again?
I guess its like how Howard Stern says that he is against censorship unless it works for him, ”That's right. I believe in censoring anyone who is my enemy. I believe in censorship when it benefits me," Bin Laden is all about freedom of speech as long as you are supporting what he wants you to believe.
He calls these Danish cartoonists criminals for exercising their freedom of speech.
And when Bin Laden starts talking about who is a criminal and who isn’t, there is never a matter of degree.
You have never heard Bin Laden say that someone should get 90 days in Jail for something or should get fined 500 dollars.
Everything from holding hands with a woman in public, to simply not being a Muslim, Bin Laden is under the impression that the fair and just punishment for these crimes is always death.
"Heretics and atheists, who denigrate religion and transgress against God and His Prophet, will not stop their enmity towards Islam except by being killed," Bin Laden said.
I know there are a lot of people out there that would like nothing more than to say that Bin Laden is just misunderstood or that he comes from a position of justifiable resentment against the west for unspeakable crimes against him, his people, his religion, his way of life, something.
Well especially if the later is true then I would like to hear something that comes out of his mouth that would reflect that.
When you don’t seem to have the capacity to grasp the concept of people being different, that we aren’t all the same and that some of us see things differently, and that philosophical limitation of yours pushes you to want to criminalize anything that you don’t agree with, then no one can vouch for you but the choir you preach to.
Bin Laden is the type of guy that if he had been born and raised in the United States he would be equally as intolerant of anything or anyone that wasn’t driving around with a American Flag waving in the wind from his gun rack.
He doesn’t respect people that aren’t exactly the way he is.
He had a well documented problem with Saddam Hussein because Saddam was about as close to secular as you can get in the Middle East. He has a problem with the largest Islamic country on the earth Indonesia because they don’t treat women like shit.
He is so unapologetically self-serving and ethnocentric in his thinking that he can’t help but live out the rest of his days in a cave.
At least now he is literally living where he has figuratively been all of his adult life.

Bin Laden's Open Letter To America
According to him The world's made up of only two kinds of people; Muslims and infidels. Ironically that mentality is fundamentally no different than the European cultural tradition that he so vehemently criticizes.
